Weight loss is a
fickle thing. It seems to come and go with the wind.
You try one weight loss diet, and it
works for a while, but then you quit, or get sick of depriving
yourself, and the weight starts to creep back on.
The troubling thing is that the weight
loss success you had disappears and you may end up weighing
more than you did before you started the weight loss
diet.
It’s so unbelievably frustrating isn’t
it? But what are you supposed to do? You follow a plan, it
works and then it fails.
One weight loss
secret that not many people use is social
support.
That doesn’t mean you have to find a
program to join and go to meeting where you get weighed on a
weekly basis for all to see. Nor does it mean that you need to
have a cheerleading section patting you on the back and
cheering you along the whole way.
All social support means, in terms of
weight loss, is that you need a few people (1 will do, but more
is better) that have similar goals as you that you can lean on
when times get tough and can bounce ideas off of.
For some this may be a personal trainer.
It would be stupid of me to leave that out given that I’m a
trainer and weight loss is the #1 goal of 90% of my
clients.
But there are people out there who can’t
afford having a personal trainer on a regular basis and that’s
fine. Another option for a trainer would be to have one design
a program for you and then get on-line weight loss support via
email (I offer this…hint, hint).
You could find a friend or co-worker who
is trying to accomplish the same thing as you.
Then you could set up weekly "weight loss
round-ups" (or whatever the hell you want to call it) where you
get together and talk about your successes and what’s bugging
you, or what you don’t understand.
Having someone to lean on when times get
tough (and they will get tough) is crucial if you want to
succeed with your weight loss goals.
Everybody needs somebody to help
out…everybody.
So find somebody right now that you can
lean on, that you can trust and who will help you succeed with
your weight loss goals. Your success hinges on
it.
